About
A haat with Odisha as the address.
ORMAZ is a shop for traditional goods from across India, built so people in Odisha can buy them. It is inspired by ORMAS. It is not the official website, and it does not take government payments.
The Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society was registered on 14 January 1991, under the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, to give rural producers a way into the market: technology, design, packing, and a buyer. District societies work with the state body. Over time the role became less “run every stall” and more “build the system other people can run”.
That system is visible. Pallishree melas since 2003–04. Retail outlets in bus stands and malls. Agri malls. Producer enterprises and producer companies. Rural industrial parks in selected blocks. Skill cohorts, including the mining-area partnership with Odisha Mining Corporation. The public pages are linked on this site. Staff lists, tenders, and RTI stay on the official site, where they belong.
ORMAZ asks a further question. If the point of a mela is that a household can meet a maker, why should the household in Odisha only meet Odisha? Ajrakh from Kutch, a Kolhapuri chappal packed through Mumbai, an ittar from Shahjahanabad, a pashmina from Srinagar: these are the goods people already want. Listing them next to Bargarh ikat is the interstate version of the same marketing idea.
The catalog is original demonstration merchandise. Prices are illustrative. Clusters are named so the shelf behaves like a stall, but this deployment does not claim a live contract with those workshops. Checkout validates an Odisha address and writes a receipt. The house desk and the seller desks keep that receipt, take the piece off the stock count, and can pack or cancel the parcel. A producer group applies to sell; the Bhubaneswar house approves the desk and each new listing before it reaches the shop.
1991
The Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department sets up ORMAS so rural producers have marketing channels, not only schemes. District societies sit underneath the state body.
2003
Exhibitions become a standing method. Pallishree melas put handloom, handicrafts, food, and other rural goods in front of city buyers.
Festival circuit
National melas attach themselves to gatherings people already attend: Rath Yatra in Puri, Bali Yatra in Cuttack, Biswakarma Puja in Angul, and smaller melas at district headquarters.
Shops
Retail leaves the mela ground. ORMAS publishes 35 outlets across 14 districts, including newer shelves in Bargarh, Bhubaneswar, and Paradeep.
Enterprises
The work moves upstream: agri malls, producer enterprises, producer companies, and rural industrial parks meant to turn groups into firms with packaging, quality, and a buyer.
This haat
ORMAZ takes the same bet and stretches the map. If a mela can introduce a buyer to a maker for a week, a shop can keep Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Mumbai, and the rest on offer for a household in Odisha.
